Brie Larson is Captain Marvel!

Marvel Studios' next big-screen superhero Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, portrayed by Brie Larson, is the focus of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, giving fans their best look yet at the superhero in action. She's one of the strongest superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but one we haven't even met yet at this point in the movies. For example, when the film starts, Carol already has her powers, having left her life on Earth to join an elite Kree military team, the Starforce, which is led by Jude Law's character.

Avengers: Infinity War is over and Ant-Man and the Wasp has delivered on its goal, and so we finally come to Captain Marvel.

Entertainment Weekly has a few other photos in their gallery, but these were our favorites.

That honor actually belongs to Monica Rambeau, a hero with energy powers who took the codename Captain Marvel in the early 1980s.

We see Ben Mendelsohn's Talos in his natural green and his shapeshifted human form - both equally intimidating visages for the Skrull leader since his human alter-ego will be undercover at S.H.I.E.L.D.

Some old Marvel characters are also set to return including Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury who will make his ninth appearance in the MCU, but in a younger avatar. You don't need to be Shuri to figure this one out: a Captain Marvel reveal is coming. Could this be a hint that Maria might get superpowers of her own, or is this just a little Easter egg for hardcore Marvel fans to pick up on? We could be looking at a movie along the lines of Guardians of the Galaxy that blows us all away when it hits theaters.

Will a trailer also follow soon?

Captain Marvel began filming in March in Los Angeles, California.
