Despite Trump tweet, Ford says it won't make hatchback in U.S.

It now appears as though Trump's claim that Ford can now move production of their vehicle, the Focus Active, to the United States, is, as Trump would call it, "FAKE NEWS".

China has threatened retaliation, which could include action against United States companies operating there.

Ford's North America product communications manager, Mike Levine, spelled it out for the president in a tweet noting "it would not be profitable to build the Focus Active in the US given an expected annual sales volume of fewer than 50,000 units and its competitive segment". Simply put, establishing a local production of the auto would not make a successful business case.

Apple told trade officials in a letter on Friday that the proposed tariffs would affect prices for a "wide range" of Apple products, including its watch.

"Without the tariffs, the business case was pretty solid for that model in the United States market", he said. It asked the government to come up with other measures to bolster the economy.
