Earl Thomas plans to report to Seahawks on Wednesday

Earl Thomas plans to report to Seahawks on Wednesday

I've never let [my] teammates, city or fans down as long as I've lived and don't plan on starting this weekend.

Thomas had been working out primarily in his native Texas, and specifically in Austin, where he attended the University of Texas.

Thomas previously wrote in The Players Tribune that he believes he should be paid significantly more than the $8.5 million base salary he's due this year.

Thomas was the 14th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by Seattle.

The Seahawks were not in negotiations with Thomas and "there has been nothing to indicate that they are interested in giving him an extension", ESPN reported earlier this week. The safety had returned to the area over the weekend to bring his daughter to her first day of school.

Earl Thomas is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best, free safeties in all of football so it he would be a boon to whatever team gets him whether it's the Seahawks or the Cowboys.

Getting a second-round pick back in exchange for Thomas seems like a good deal; the San Francisco 49ers gave the Patriots a second-round pick for Jimmy Garoppolo and he's a franchise quarterback. The real worry is in the secondary and Earl Thomas' replacement Tedric Thompson and his ability to keep a lid on the defense.

Shortly before Thomas announced his return, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Cowboys had made another push to trade for the All-Pro safety.

Seattle will have to make a corresponding roster move to account for Thomas, though they could also initially put him on an exempt list.

Earl Thomas (29) intercepts a pass intended for Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (10). The Seahawks will pay Chancellor $12 million for this season, which was guaranteed money.

Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has chose to end his holdout Wednesday, which signals his intent to play what will likely be his last season in Seattle.

Thomas and Chancellor aren't the same player, however.
