'Cosby' star accepts Tyler Perry's job offer

Geoffrey Owens, the Cosby Show star who was "job shamed" after being spotted working in a grocery, has taken Tyler Perry up on his offer of a TV role.

On Friday, TMZ announced that the actor, who was recently shamed after a photo began circulating that showed him working as a cashier at Trader Joes, will appear in a big role on "The Haves and the Have Nots".

Nicki Minaj says she's opening her checkbook and donating $25,000 to the actor.

A customer at Trader Joe's was surprised to notice the 57-year-old actor bagging groceries last month (Aug18), and shared her shock at his new career path in a post on social media, alongside a photo of Owens at the cash register. "All this man is doing, in-between acting jobs, is making an honest living, minding his own business, and not losing his cool over a couple of bad women dining off the fact he committed the sin of getting older". Minaj said, "This man is a whole f***ing legend".

However, it doesn't appear Owens will be taking handouts anytime soon.

"Tell him that I'm going to have my team contact him because I hope he doesn't take it the wrong way", Minaj told Entertainment Tonight . Owens, however, also received a slew of positive and supportive messages from fans and fellow actors.

"We all have done jobs like that and I just thought, what if that were me?"

Basically, we have a feeling that Perry, as prolific a producer as they come, was more than familiar with Owens' work long before his story went out there this past week. "Like, really? Are you actually saying, 'Come work with me"?
