The OnePlus 6T has suddenly become all the rage now, thanks to the official confirmation from the Chinese company about the phone's unveiling date (October 17) as well as in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Nice! So the fingerprint sensor will be under the display.

"We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action", said OnePlus in an email to CNET. Now OnePlus has confirmed that this is in fact the case.

Despite being known as "in-screen fingerprint readers" the technology is actually embedded underneath displays.

Would a OnePlus 6T with in-display fingerprint sensor entice you to buy? To accommodate the feature, the company had to make some changes to the innards of the phone, making it almost 0.45mm thicker.

However, its presence doesn't come as much surprise, as a leaked box image suggested the OnePlus 6T would have one, and the phone is rumored to be based on the Oppo R17, which also has one. As OnePlus' fingerprint sensor on the back and face unlock on the front have been effortless to use.
