Got $1,100? Apple shows off its most expensive iPhone yet

You will be able to pre-order the handset from 19 October, with shipping a week later.

Apple revealed its three new iPhones on September in an event at the Steve Jobs Theater in its Apple Park HQ.

However, it should be noted that of the three new iPhones introduced - the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR - not one of them included Apple's signature home button. The iPhone XR uses the same processor as the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, as well as Face ID and the TrueDepth camera, but uses different display technology and a single rear camera.

Apple also touted the iPhone's durability, saying the front and back glass design is tougher than any other smartphone and is more resistant to scratches. The iPhone XR, available for pre-order October 19 and launching on October 26, will be available in Red, Yellow, White, Coral, Black and Blue. The iPhone XR's LCD display (dubbed Liquid Retina HD) looks sharp, and won't disappoint, but the differences in quality are noticeable when compared to its more costly iPhone XS and XS Max counterparts, both of which have OLED displays.

The iPhone XS and XS Max feature improved dual 12-megapixel cameras, with better True Tone sensors and fast 1.8 aperture lenses. Let us know in the comments.

Unfortunately, the sheen has been taken off the event somewhat due to a series of leaks that have come out ahead of time, reported on by a number of credible tech outlets. Become a BI Insider today! The cheapest version of the iPhone Xs with the most limited amount of storage (64 GB) will cost $999, while the Xs Max's base price starts at $1,099.

Building on last year's iPhone X, the new iPhone XS keeps the same size (5.8-inch screen) and form factor, and adds a new gold color option. It predicts average iPhone selling prices will rise by $20.

The iPhone XR uses the same TrueDepth camera as the iPhone XS.

So this is the first time it's come to a "standard" iPhone, if you will.

The AirPods will offer water resistance and perhaps new colors that can broaden their appeal, analysts say.

This even-bigger iPhone, which will be available on September 21 - with orders open the week before - represents Apple's attempt to feed consumers' appetite for increasingly larger screens as they rely on smartphones to watch and record video, as well as take photos wherever they are. The watch also packs an improved accelerometer and gyroscope with twice the dynamic range, which allows the new wearable to do things such as detect when you've fallen down - and start an emergency call if you can't get up.

"It's a good way for Apple to get people with older devices, like the 6 and 5S, to upgrade".
