Half Of People Experience Poor Mental Health At Work, Study Finds

According to their findings a large part of sharing mental health struggles came from manager confidence - staff who felt their manager supported their mental health or could spot the signs that someone was going through a hard time were far more likely to say they would share their situation.

A "STEP CHANGE" in workplace culture is needed in order to address mental health issues, a charity has said, after it revealed that nearly half of workers have experienced problems such as anxiety, low mood and stress.

Only half of those who had experienced problems with stress, anxiety or low mood had talked to their employer about it. "The new online Mental Health at Work gateway will change that", Farmer added.

A recent poll by the Institute of Directors found less than one in five firms offered mental health training for managers. A Deloitte study released in 2017 found that mental health issues cost United Kingdom employers between £33 billion and £42 billion each year.
