Saudi arrests man over breakfast video with woman

This is in contravention of the law in Saudi Arabia, where in workplaces or eateries like McDonald's and Starbucks, families and single men have to sit in different areas.

At the end of the video, the woman appears to feed the man, which has caused the most controversy.

In a video widely shared on social media, the pair can be seen eating breakfast at a desk and waving at the camera. So when Saudi men see an Egyptian man eating with a Saudi woman, well, you get the picture.

Announcing the news of his detainment, the Saudi Ministry of Labor and Social Development also released a statement on Twitter saying it had contacted the owner of the company where the two colleagues worked to investigate the "violation of the women working conditions".

Women are exempted from carrying out most outside activities without being accompanied by a man, father, husband, brother or son.

Saudi Arabia has been encouraging women to join the workforce and has relaxed some of its strictest regulations on women and social life - including allowing women to drive and attend football games in stadiums.
