Canada cannabis entrepreneurs 'could face U.S. lifetime ban'

Canadians who use marijuana, work in and invest in the marijuana industry risk a lifetime ban on travel to the United States, a USA official said this week.

Todd Owen, executive assistant commissioner for the CBP's Office of Field Operations, said Canadians can be denied entry and permanently banned from visiting the US for working or investing in marijuana, even once federally legal recreational weed sales begin north of the border next month, Politico Thursday. It has been legalized in nine USA states and Washington, D.C., but remains illegal at a federal level.

Enenajor said pot users and people connected to the industry are considered "inadmissible aliens" under US law.

What to do? Well, lying to a border agent is considered fraud and is also grounds for a lifetime ban.

Consider that, after October 17, someone travelling from Canada (where marijuana is legal) to Washington State or Vermont (where marijuana is also legal) could still be stopped at the border, prohibited from entering the United States, and banned from the country for life.

"Of course there's always going to be a concern, but the reality is, I can only tell the truth", he said.

Dybala: I’m lucky to play with Ronaldo, Messi
At Manchester United Dybala would also be reunited with Paul Pogba, with whom he reached a Champions League Final with in 2015. Tuttomercatoweb reported in the summer that Liverpool had made contact with Dybala's representatives over a potential move .

I recall Safety Minister Ralph Goodale stating that there is no reason legalized pot should prompt tighter screening at the US border.

There have been concerns within Canada's growing cannabis industry for months that they may face trouble crossing the border.

"Despite one-in-eight Canadians using cannabis today, 400,000 people move between our two countries every day nearly entirely without incident", Goodale spokesman Scott Bardsley said by email.

Cars from Canada line up to cross into the U.S.at Blaine, Wash. This decision will doom many youth before they even get started in life and careers.

It could create problems for workers or executives if border officials ask them straightforward questions about their occupations.

A lifetime ban on entering the USA will apply to travellers who admit to using marijuana, employees in the marijuana industry, and investors in the marijuana sector, according to the official. Under the policy, U.S. officials are to bar entry to Canadians who acknowledge having consumed marijuana at any time in their past, as well as those who are either employed or invested in legal cannabis enterprises.
