Delhi police officer’s son seen beating woman in viral video arrested

A Delhi policeman and his son, who is seen brutally thrashing a woman in a viral video, was arrested after charged with rape and criminal intimidation in two separate cases on Friday. She alleged that she was threatened with the same kind of treatment if she didn't follow his instructions.

In the video, Tomar is seen dragging the woman and brutally assaulting her.

The cases against the accused - one of criminal intimidation and molestation and the other of rape- were registered based on the version of two women, they said Stepping in, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) issued a notice to the Delhi Police, saying appropriate sections were not included in the FIR and questioned why the accused was not arrested earlier. Reportedly, the girl had broken off with the accused some three months back and he has been harassing her ever since.

The police said the video appeared to have been shot by a friend of Tomar at a private office in West Delhi.

Ali said he didn't know the woman being beaten up, and added she might be "Rohit's club friend".

A day after Janta Ka Reporter first reported the gruesome video of a Delhi cop's son mercilessly thrashing a girl inside a call centre, Home Minister Rajnath Singh ordered a probe.

"I have taken note of a video where a youth has been seen severely beating a woman".

The police said they had detained Rohit Tomar, and later released him on a personal bond. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said he saw the video and has asked for immediate action.

She said she shared on social media, the video of Tomar beating another woman, which he sent to her as a warning. On September 2 at around 3 pm, Rohit got hold of the girl in the BPO where they both work.

Another Twitter user posted a screenshot of his Instagram profile, asking the police to take strict action against him.
