Asia Argento threatens to sue Rose McGowan over 'horrendous lies'

Asia Argento threatens to sue Rose McGowan over 'horrendous lies'

On Monday, Argento threatened to sue McGowan over her August 27 statement urging the actress and filmmaker to "be the person you wish Harvey could have been".

Asia Argento took to Twitter to warn Rose McGowan of potential legal action. "I loved you. You've spent and risked a lot to stand with the #MeToo movement".

The two actors used to be confidantes and allies in the #MeToo movement - both have spoken out, accusing disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein of rape and sexual assault, charges he denies - but have had a falling out over the alleged sexual abuse of Argento's co-star, Jimmy Bennett.

Argento claims that her late boyfriend, Parts Unknown host Anthony Bourdain, put up the money for the settlement and denies that she ever had sexual relationship with Bennett.

Bennett has previously said that he made a decision to come forward about the alleged sexual assault when Argento went public with allegations that she was a victim of producer Harvey Weinstein. Argento called McGowan's comments "horrendous lies" and "libel".

Dove also said Argento admitted to receiving unsolicited nudes from Bennett since he was 12 but never did anything to stop him from sending them. "Anyone can be better - I hope you can be, too".

Best comedy went to The Marvellous Mrs Maisel on Amazon Prime Video. "I don't think it's inappropriate", Smith said. The biggest award so far won by a broadcast network was " Saturday Night Live " for best variety sketch series .

Texts and photos, however, tell a different story about the nature of Argento and Bennett's relationship together, one far off from the actress' denial. Be honest. Be fair.

The New York Times said it had lawyers' documents showing that Bennett alleged Argento sexually assaulted him in 2013 when he was 17 and she was 37.

"(Dove) said that they had been texting with Asia and that Asia had revealed that she had indeed slept with Jimmy Bennet (sic)", reads the statement. "Whether or not the extortion case is true - it wasn't fair and it wasn't right". Rose, previously, said in her statement, "let justice stay its course". "It is the type of thing I fight against alongside so many".

A libel lawsuit against McGowan for that seems like an unusual thing to get hung up on when Argento has much bigger problems.

Argento responded to McGowan's statement on Twitter, stating that Dove had "accepted she was wrong" and deleted the tweet and that McGowan needed to do the same. Not even a simple message 'Don't send me these images.
