Julie Chen Leaving The Talk; Will She Also Leave Big Brother?

CNN reported the news Monday night, with sources saying that the TV host's decision to exit the talk show is effective immediately.

When Moonves, the powerful chairman and CEO of CBS, was accused of sexual misconduct in the pages of The New Yorker in late July, Chen publicly supported her husband and said she would only issue one statement on the topic.

Panelists on competing daytime talker The View also have addressed Chen's absence as well as her return to Big Brother four days after her husband's CEO ouster.

Leslie Moonves and Julie Chen arrive at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in February 2016.

Chen has been an anchor on the afternoon talk show since its inception in 2009, remaining a staple for The Talk as co-hosts came and went.

Mashable has contacted CBS for further comment. While some think she may have been pushed out, others believe that she gave up the job in order to avoid awkward on-air conversations with her co-hosts.

Chen's sign off indicated she is standing by her husband, despite the many allegations against him. Moonves exited on September 9 after a second wave of women stepped forward. He's always been a kind, decent and moral human being. I fully support my husband, and I stand behind him and his statement'.

Moonves' three-paragraph statement said, "untrue allegations from decades ago" are being made against him and are not consistent with who he is. Moonves has been a CBS boss since 1995.

Prior to that, Julie released the following statement: 'I've known my husband since the late '90s, and I've been married to him for nearly 14 years.

She had never before used her husband's last name on the program.

CBS said last Sunday that it takes the allegations very seriously and that its board of directors is investigating.
