Roseanne: My character gets killed off 'The Conners' by opioid overdose

If you remember back in June, Roseanne Barr was sacked from her hit show Roseanne just hours after she posted a tweet about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, comparing her to the "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes".

Barr, 65, admitted she has accepted her fate and the fact that the show is moving on without her. Vehicle accent? Plane crash? Those that watched the reboot will note that Roseanne began abusing opioids near the end of the season due to an injury, while Dan sought to get her help by trying to raise money for surgery. But Barr says, "I was never going to have Roseanne die of an opioid overdose".

'Oh ya, they killed her.

Barr also revealed what she thinks about her character being killed off. She noted her canceled ABC show Roseanne laid the groundwork for her character to have an opioid problem last season and claimed that storyline was her idea.

Barr called the decision "cynical and frightful". So it wasn't enough to [fire me], they had to so cruelly insult the people who loved that family in that show.

In more unfortunate news for Barr - she was one of the first to be insulted at Monday night's Emmy Awards ceremony.

Perhaps Barr's character should have more suitably perished from an Ambien overdose?

ABC had no comment on Barr's revelations when reached by TVLine.

Following the cancellation, ABC ordered The Conners, a spin-off starring original cast members John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman.
