Anderson Cooper Takes Down Trump Jr. Over Hurricane Coverage Conspiracy

Anderson Cooper Takes Down Trump Jr. Over Hurricane Coverage Conspiracy

"I whether I should even respond tonight to the president's son", Cooper said.

For the next five minutes, Cooper showed multiple clips of his 2008 broadcast from the flood waters.

After questioning if Trump Jr. had ever been to a natural disaster, or if he keeps his outdoor adventures to the paying "a lot of money to be led to wildlife in Africa that he then kills" variety, Cooper deconstructed what he called his "lies".

"He did not. Still, the timing of Trump Jr. posting that particular photo on the very same weekend of a major hurricane is highly curious, to say the least".

Unsurprisingly, people on social media slammed Trump Jr. for spreading lies about the veteran journalist.

Cooper then went on to show images and videos of what actually happened in the broadcast which took place during Hurricane Ike in September of 2008.

Don Jr. included the throwback hurricane photo without any context, seemingly implying that he believed Anderson was also "lying" about how bad the hurricane was to improve ratings.

TWS's article focuses on an image that went viral recently, showing CNN's Anderson Cooper standing in deep water while his camera crew, just feet away, is in much lower water.

"The idea that I am kneeling in water to make it look deep is frankly idiotic", said Cooper before explaining a picture of him shared by Trump Jr. What is worse is that there is a simple solution they refuse to accept. Stop lying to try to make Donald Trump look bad, ' he tweeted.

Some have claimed the photo showed Cooper allegedly kneeling in the water to exaggerate how bad conditions were in the Carolinas during Florence.

"I've covered hurricanes for about 14 years and it really does make me sad to think that anyone would think that I would try to fake something or overly dramatize a disaster", Cooper said during the almost 10-minute segment on his CNN program, "AC360". I never said the pic of him was from Florence. Additionally, he was trying to illustrate the risky nature of trying to travel along those streets, as people often attempt to drive around blockades or debris and quickly find themselves in water deeper than they had anticipated, he explained.

"I rarely respond to online conspiracy theorists or cable news cranks looking to get into a mutually beneficial beef that will boost their ratings", Cooper said at the beginning of his monologue.

Anderson explained the variation in the water level between him and the cameraman was because he was standing in a roadside ditch as part of a special report.

"You can argue I didn't need to be standing in waist-deep water", he said.

One trump official wrote on Instagram: "You know it's sad when even the WEATHER is #FakeNews".
