Here's why some McDonald's workers are walking off the job Tuesday

The organization Fight for $15, which formed to fight for fair wages in the restaurant industry, organized the nationwide protest after learning about repeated cases of harassment that female employees experienced over several years, organizers said.

The strike, which has been dubbed #MeTooMcDonalds, is reportedly the first multistate strike targeting sexual misconduct, according to The Associated Press. "They could do a way better job".

The complaints are in line with similar allegations filed with the EEOC in 2016, when hourly workers in eight states came forward to allege their hours had been cut and their complaints went ignored after they notified supervisors of various forms of harassment on the job.

McDonald's did not specifically address its use of Seyfarth Shaw, but said in its own emailed statement that the company has "strong policies, procedures and training in place specifically created to prevent sexual harassment". They told her she was acting "like a little girl" about it.

She said she left McDonald's for a while in 2017 and is now working at a different store. Harrell never reported the incident because she said her previous complaints had fallen on deaf ears.

When she complained Harrell said her managers did not take it seriously and suggested there was some kind of relationship between the two and she should take it to the "next level".

The affected cities include Chicago; Durham, North Carolina; Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri; Los Angeles and San Francisco; Miami and Orlando, Florida; Milwaukee; and New Orleans.

The demand comes as McDonald's workers staged walkouts in cities across the call attention to alleged harassment at some McDonald's restaurants and to protest what they say is inaction by the company. The Time's Up Legal Defense Fund helped pay the fees to take the complaint to the U.S. Equal Employement Opportunity Commission. A warning for readers, what she said is graphic in nature. Since our founding, we've been committed to a culture that fosters the respectful treatment of everyone.

We reached out to McDonald's and a rep tells TMZ.

In an email to the AP, McDonald's officials wrote, "We have policies, procedures and training in place that are specifically created to prevent sexual harassment at our company and company-owned restaurants, and we firmly believe that our franchisees share this commitment". Further, the company has "engaged experts in the areas of prevention and response including RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), to evolve our policies", noted the chain. "I felt like I was outside of my own body, watching what was happening".
