Markle showed gratitude to the women for embracing her into their kitchens and for partaking in the cookbook, which she called a "tremendous labor of love".

Meghan has been the driving force behind the book, suggesting the idea to a group of women who came together to cook at a Muslim cultural centre in North Kensington in the aftermath of the Grenfell blaze.

In a clear sign of the enormous influence the Duchess already wields, the recipe book bumped Lethal White, written by Robert Galbraith - Harry Potter author Rowling's male pseudonym - Adam Kay's This is Going to Hurt, and Jamie Oliver's Italy down the charts to take the top spot on Amazon.

The duchess was wearing a striking petrol blue long coat by one of her favourite Canadian brands, Smythe - which sold out within minutes - with a pleated midi skirt by her friend Misha Nonoo, a high neck bodysuit by Tuxe and black suede Sarah Flint heels. "I'm just as excited as you are".

"I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen", Markle says in a promotional video for the book.

"And when you get to know the story of the recipe you get to know the person behind it, and that's what we're talking about in terms of coming together, to really engage and talk and to be able to celebrate what connects us, rather than what divides us".
