Samsung might launch its first quad-camera phone on October 11

After much speculations, Samsung has officially unveiled the 2018 edition of its Galaxy A7 smartphone. For the unaware, Huawei P20 Pro was the first triple camera smartphone to launch back in March. The latest iteration of the Galaxy A7 apparently improves on the 2017 version of the device announced earlier a year ago.

The main difference is obviously the rear camera.

Dutch retailer leaked official pics for the 2018 Galaxy A7 model that appears to have three cameras on the back. The device's 24MP lens works to combine four pixels into one pixel in low light environments in order to automatically accommodate more light.

The camera features Samsung's intelligent Scene Optimizer, said to categorise the subject and adjust the color, contrast and brightness for a better image quality. The Galaxy A7 will also be available with 4GB and 6GB of RAM. On the front, it has a single, 24-megapixel, F2.0 shooter. It also comes with Dolby Atmos for headphones and Bluetooth audio, Samsung Pay, and Bixby. Under the hood, the device comes powered by an unspecified octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz. The handset measures 159.8 x 76.8 x 7.5 mm and weighs 168 grams.

The fingerprint scanner is present on the rear side and the device is backed by a 3300mAh battery with adaptive fast charging. Connectivity options on board include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v 5.0, USB Type-B, NFC (optional) 4G VoLTE and Global Positioning System, among others. Out of the box, this device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung's skin on top.

"Samsung is committed to delivering meaningful innovation to all consumers across the Galaxy family, no matter who they are or where they are in the world" swooned DJ Koh, president and CEO of Samsung's mobile biz.

As of now, there is no news about the price, but this isn't part of Samsung's flagship lineup and will likely to cost something similar to the A7's predecessors: expect something in the region of $400-$500 (the P20 Pro launched for roughly $1,050).
