The historical "peak" or hurricane season was on September 10. "Nate also did $225 million in damage in the U.S. The name Nate was retired after the 2017 season because of its impact on Central America, where 46 people died".

That's perhaps why some forecasters are keeping an eye on a low-pressure system in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. Atmospheric conditions there are forecast to become more favorable for a tropical depression to form.

The system, now located near the northeastern coasts of Nicaragua and Honduras, was forecast by the US -based National Hurricane Center at a 40 percent chance of tropical formation by Tuesday.

Early indications are that we see a tropical storm that moves north and eventually northeast through the Gulf and makes landfall near the Florida panhandle. Highs should stay in the low 90s both days with a partly cloudy sky and not much in the way of a rain chance. Floridians from Pensacola to Tampa should closely monitor the progress of this developing situation.

The 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season is far from over - and the USA will likely see yet another land-falling tropical system in the coming week.

Hurricane season runs through November 30. Consider that Hurricane Sandy hit the northern East Coast on October 29 from the Atlantic, making landfall near Atlantic City, New Jersey.
