Susan Rice considering 2020 challenge to Collins in Maine

Susan Rice considering 2020 challenge to Collins in Maine

"As I watch numerous Senators speak and vote on the floor of the Senate I feel like I'm right back at Yale where half the room is laughing and looking the other way".

They had been counting on her to buck her party and vote against Justice Kavanaugh, a move that might have doomed his nomination.

Collins told Bash that while she found Ford's testimony "heart-wrenching", the fact that both Ford and Kavanaugh said they were "100 percent certain" of their statements meant that she had to look to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for additional corroborating evidence.

Crowdpac tweeted that it's secured pledges for more than $3 million for Collins' future opponent. She then voted to advance Kavanaugh's nomination and has said that she will vote yes on Kavanaugh' during the full Senate's confirmation vote on Saturday.

Collins returned to ME late Saturday after Kavanaugh was sworn into office. During his 30 years on the Supreme Court, Justice Anthony Kennedy was a wild card who sometimes frustrated liberals and progressives with his pro-corporate rulings (most notably, Citizens United v. the Federal Election Commission) yet often voted with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg when it came to abortion and gay rights-and the Christian Right detested him for having that libertarian streak. "Is she mistaken?" Hirono said, adding that "anybody watching" her testimony would conclude she was being truthful about her story.

"I found Dr. Ford's testimony to be heart-wrenching, painful, compelling, and I believe that she believes what she testified to", Collins said. "I am not going to allow that kind of effort". So I think it was understandable that he was reacting as a human being, as a father, as a father of two young girls.

Collins explained the reasoning behind her vote Saturday to confirm Kavanaugh to John Dickerson on CBS's Face the Nation in a interview recorded Saturday and aired Sunday.

As the senators voted, protesters in the Senate gallery screamed, "I do not consent", and, "shame", forcing Vice President Mike Pence, who was presiding over the chamber, to repeatedly call for order.

Sevastova beats Osaka 6-4, 6-4 in China Open semifinal
The Argentine will now play Georgia's Nikoloz Basilashvili in the final after the Georgian defeated Kyle Edmund of Great Britain. The eighth seed, who stunned Serena Williams to win her maiden Grand Slam last month in NY , belatedly began finding some range.

"I was glad that he apologized to Amy Klobuchar in particular, " she said.

"We will be ill-served in the long run if we abandon the presumption of innocence and fairness, tempting though it may be", Ms. Collins said.

"A few weeks ago I made the mistake of taking my #Kavanaugh frustration out on Senator Susan Collins".

Republican lawmakers accused her of underplaying the attack as a spontaneous act of violence in response to an anti-Muslim film.

Collins on Sunday belittled a possible challenge from Rice, saying that "everybody knows" she does not live in Maine.

She said that Kavanaugh's questioning of senators at the hearing was over the line.

Rice has a home in ME, a source said, and her family has ties to the state: Her mother, an education policy expert who was instrumental in the creation of the Pell Grant, was born there. "I think it's the end of whatever legacy she has worked so hard to achieve as a moderate", Amy Halsted, co-director of Maine People's Alliance, which helped start the fundraiser, told Rolling Stone.
