Treyarch thanked their optimization for the day one experience to allow a manageable download in todays AAA market.

The final game size after installation and download of the patch should be 55GB on either console.

Publisher Activision has revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will require a whopping 50GB day one patch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you're using a capped internet service plan, you might risk running over your cap (or waiting until the next month) just to get a game that's ready to play, even if you bought the disc version to avoid a large download.

Games like Black Ops 4 may be off-limits to certain players simply because they don't have the luxuries of unlimited data or truly fast broadband. A full download will be required, however, for regular multiplayer modes, Zombies, and Specialist Headquarters. If you've pre-ordered the digital version of the game then you'll be all set to go as the game will go live with the patch already included. To help counter this a little, Activision is allowing select retailers to start selling the physical versions of the game the day before release. Raru pre-orders can expect delivery on Thursday too.

Black Ops 4 officially releases on Friday, October 12 and the servers are expected to go live in the United Kingdom on Thursday afternoon.
