MCU: Ryan Coogler Confirmed To Write & Direct Black Panther 2

In news that is maybe not surprising but is supremely important, Ryan Coogler is returning to Marvel for Black Panther 2.

After the initial report indicated Coogler will direct the Black Panther sequel, a report from Variety indicated the film will not go into production until late 2019 or early 2020, leaving him enough time to take on a smaller project. Marvel now has three films lined-up in the coming year, which are Captain Marvel, Spider-Man Homecoming 2 and Avengers 4. What was less certain, however, was the film's director and co-writer Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed) returning. The movie is also expected to be in awards contention, as is Coogler for directing.

A release date has not been set yet and plot details have yet to be revealed.

It looks like a return to Wakanda is one step closer.

Of course, Marvel making a sequel to Black Panther shouldn't surprise anyone as it was one of the most successful films of the year, second only to Avengers: Infinity War. Talking about the cast, Chadwick Boseman played the titular character of Black Panther aka T'Challa, the king of a fictional African country Wakanda along with Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis in pivotal roles. Kevin Feige is a producer with Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.
