Trump didn't help by apologising to Kavanaugh and his family for their "pain and suffering", says Jennifer Rubin in the Washington Post.

"Brett Kavanaugh's Senate confirmation battle appears to be a significant motivator, as voter enthusiasm for the upcoming midterms has hit its highest point since Morning Consult and POLITICO began tracking the issue", Tyler Sinclair, Morning Consult's vice president, told Politico in a statement.

As he walked on the Senate floor before the deal was announced, Democratic Sen.

He laughed loudly and said the answer was so obvious that even political reporters could determine on their own that it was true. Henderson said they all relate to the hearings, not to his conduct as a judge. That led to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY making a deal with Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky to confirm the judges and allow for a recess, in order for candidates up for re-election to hit the campaign trail, Politico reported.
