NYPD Searching for 12 After Brawls Near Right-Wing Speech

NY state's Attorney General, Barbara Underwood, is looking for information about an apparent violent attack by extremist group The Proud Boys and will push for a "thorough investigation", she announced via Twitter on Friday night.

'Hateful and violent behavior has no place in New York City, and those responsible must be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law'.

Police officials said nine of the people they are searching for are members of the Proud Boys, and three are from Antifa, a far-left anti-fascist group.

The violence Friday night followed a speech by Gavin McInnes, the founder of the Proud Boys, at the Metropolitan Republican Club.

Following the speech at the club, a longtime gathering place for Republicans, more than a dozen members of the Proud Boys reportedly roamed the streets and clashed with counter-protesters.
