Umesh Yadav replaces Shardul Thakur in ODIs following Test heroics

Paceman Umesh Yadav claimed a match haul of 10 wickets to lead India to a series sweep against the West Indies with a win inside three days in the second Test on Sunday.

Chasing a paltry 72-run target, openers Prithvi Shaw (33*) and KL Rahul (33*) guided India home easily in just 16.1 overs on the third day of the Test.

The Caribbean side dared to dream when they bowled India out for 367 to limit the first innings deficit to just 56 runs, but their batsmen then produced a wretched display to crumble for 127 in their second innings - their lowest score in India in 31 years.

Thakur, India's Test player No. 294, suffered a right adductor tendon injury on the day of his Test debut, in Hyderabad.

Talking of domination, India also extended their consecutive series win record over the Windies to seven and their unbeaten run in Test matches against the same opposition to 21 - it started back in 2002. Earlier, Roston Chase completed his fourth test century before Umesh Yadav, who registered a career-best 6-88, dismissed him for 106.

Jason Holder became the first pacer to make a 50-plus score and take a 5-for against India in India after nearly 35 years.

Rishabh Pant's 152 runs fifth-wicket stand with Ajinkya Rahane, who made 80, was the highlight India's first innings.

"I have very much enjoyed my time with the West Indies and wish the staff and players every success", Law said after accepting the job.

However, on the stroke of the drinks break, Hetmyer lost the plot, charging and swinging wildly at Kuldeep and peeling a simple catch to Cheteshwar Pujara at point.

By picking four more wickets in the third innings, Umesh clinched his maiden 10-wicket haul in Tests. As a result, he will not be in the dressing room with the team for the first two games of the upcoming series against India.

Jason Holder (19) and Sunil Ambris (38) added 38 runs for the seventh wicket but once Holder edged one to Pant off Jadeja, any chances of the match going to the fourth day slowly disappeared.
