Trump suggests 'rogue killers' murdered Saudi journalist

Late in the day, there were published reports that the Saudis were preparing to concede that Khashoggi, a US -based Saudi contributor to The Washington Post, had been killed in an interrogation gone wrong.

Certain areas of the consulate were to remain off-limits, although officials would be able to inspect surveillance cameras, Turkish media reported.

The South Carolinian also said that Saudi Arabia has "nothing but contempt" for the United States and that he's "personally offended" by their actions.

State-run Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying Turkey wished a "result that allows us to reach an opinion" as to what happened to the journalist.

Turkish officials have told reporters that authorities have an audio recording indicating that Khashoggi was killed in the consulate, and have shared evidence with countries including Saudi Arabia and the United States.

Pompeo is set to visit the place where Khashoggi was last seen.

However, three of the 15 Saudi suspects are members of MBS's personal bodyguard, Turkish sources have told MEE.

Khashoggi has been missing since he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Turkish officials say they believe he was murdered there and his body removed.
