Hunter's Full Moon occurs Wednesday night

The moon kind of spoiled the Orionid meteor shower last weekend because it was almost full then.

It's the full moon that follows September's harvest moon, which comes around the start of the autumn equinox.

The full moon that appears during the month of October is also known as Hunters Moon.

NASA says the full moon will appear at 12:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Eastern on Wednesday and remain full through the rest of Wednesday night. According to some beliefs it is known as Hunters Moon because hunters during the month of October people hunted and killed deer in the moonlight.

The names of the full moons throughout the year originated hundreds of years ago from the Native Americans.

Despite usually appearing in October, once every four years the Hunter's Moon rises in November.

Greg Bishop wrote on October 24, 2018: "As the Hunter's Moon first came into view, I walked down my street looking for interesting views". They named the moons and then passed the names on to the colonists once they arrived in North America.

Now, these names are not random, rather there is always a reason behind the names of the full moons.

What is the Hunter's Moon?

The moon will continue to put on a show in the sky for a few days. That's also the reason it will look orange to you earlier in the evening. It happens from October 2 to November 7 annually thanks from the debris from Halley's Comet.
