Blizzard announces 'Diablo Immortal' for Android and iOS

After months and months of rumours, speculation, and a bit of expectation dampening from Blizzard itself, Diablo Immortal was officially announced.

Described as a "full-fledged action RPG you can play everywhere with everyone", It's now being developed in collaboration with NetEase.

Blizzard is the home to some of the biggest game franchises of all time: Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft, and more recently Overwatch.

Diablo Immortal is a mobile Massively Multiplayer Online Action RPG (MMOARPG) developed by Blizzard Entertainment in partnership with NetEase, coming exclusively to Android, iPhone and iPad.

The Diablo Immortal announcement was met with a mixed response that Blizzard likely expected. Diablo Immortal is an MMO ARPG described as a game that can be played by anyone, anywhere they please. The Worldstone lies shattered, yet great power remains within its corrupted fragments.

Players will be able to choose a character from one of six classes: Barbarian, Wizard, Demon Hunter, Monk, Crusader and Necromancer. "We want to do it in a way that's true to Blizzard, putting gameplay first". It will include touch controls which will allow players to begin an ability, charge it up, aim it, and fire it from just a single thumb input.

The developers made it clear this was a full-fledged game and they are committed to bringing the Diablo experience to mobile devices. Blizzard is also promising to add in a lot of social features so you can connect with your entire friends list when you start playing.
