Royole’s FlexPai could be the world’s first foldable phone you can buy

If you're interested in getting your hands on the FlexPai, you can pre-order the device now on the website.

When unfolded, FlexPai supports split-screen mode as well as "drag-and-drop" across applications and it automatically adjusts screen sizes.

Rouyu Technology has achieved such a design by using an AMOLED display that can fold down the middle. Prices range from the Chinese yuan equivalent of $1,290 to $1,863, depending on the configuration of the phone.

You also have to keep in mind that the phone weighs no less than 320g. The camera that comes with the device is 16MP + 20MP, which comes with image stabilization.

Liu has given the screen a poetic name, Cicada's Wings, to highlight its light weight, flexibility and durability.

Other handset makers, including Samsung, LG and Huawei, are said to be working on foldable phones, with Samsung's due to make its debut at its annual developer conference next week, and the idea behind the bendy phone has been around a long time. After folding it from the centre, the device offers three small screens. There's also a 21:6 edge-screen for important notifications like incoming calls. The most interesting thing about the Flexpai is that it isn't a proof-of-concept.

The device was announced in a ceremony in China a few days ago and just yesterday more details of the specifications were revealed.
