Oprah Winfrey Responds to 'Racist Robocalls' in Georgia

Kemp has simultaneously overseen the election process as secretary of state and run a gubernatorial race against Democrat Stacey Abrams. "I'm doing my job", he said during a campaign stop in DeKalb County that he had been stuck with two bad options. He said Georgians have clear options.

The race between Kemp and Abrams, who could become the nation's first African-American woman to be elected governor, has been close and contentious. A last-minute fracas about the state's voting system raised the specter of a disputed result.

In response, Kemp asked the FBI to investigate the Democratic Party for trying to hack the system.

Voters line up to cast their ballots early in Macon, Ga., Nov. 2, 2018. There are nearly 7 million registered voters in the state.

Kemp briefly addressed attendees to laud President Trump for "having Georgia on your mind".

Former President Obama recently joined Abrams on the campaign trail, suggesting that Kemp has "already been caught" guilty of voter suppression.

She has accused Kemp of using his post as secretary of state to make it harder for certain voters to cast ballots.

Kemp leveled the allegation after an attorney for election-security advocates notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Kemp's office on Saturday that a private citizen alerted him to what appeared to be a major flaw in the database used to check in voters at the polls.

David Cross, however, an attorney who has been involved in cybersecurity-related litigation against the Georgia Secretary of State's office, said he was also alerted to the potential vulnerabilities by the same individual who contacted the Georgia Democratic Party.

On Sunday morning, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp unleashed a stunning allegation: State Democrats had committed "possible cyber crimes" after a tipster told party officials he had found gaping security holes in the state's voter information website.

The "exact match" system simply says that new registrations must match the name of the applicant exactly. On Tuesday, voters will determine which party controls the US Congress as well as pick governors in 36 states, among them Georgia.

"He is trying to rile up his base by misleading voters yet again", Abrams told The Atlanta Journal Constitution. "He made up a story like a 6-year-old trying to cover his tracks".

Abrams, meanwhile, continued as she has throughout her campaign noting the potential historical significance but arguing the contest should be about more.

"It's a complete and utter fabrication", she said. Winfrey has campaigned for Abrams, the former minority leader for her state's House of Representatives. "I just want to say: Jesus don't like ugly, and we know what to do about that".
