Leave India If You Prefer Cricketers From Other Countries: Virat Kohli

Kohli has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to allow pacers skip the upcoming season of IPL in order to let them remain fresh for the quadrennial global spectacle, starting May 30 in the Old Blighty.

"Virat needs to understand that if the fans go away to other countries, then no Puma etc. will want to sign him for ₹100 crores".

Inspector General of police (IGP) traffic Basant Rath has slammed Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his "leave India" response to a cricket fan who had tweeted that he enjoys watching English and Australian batsmen more than Indian cricketers.

Virat Kohli's recent comments about asking a fan to 'leave India' has apparently not gone down too well with the BCCI. Kohli was reading out mean messages addressed to him by fans and responding to them. I don't mind you not liking me but I don't think you should live in our country and like other things.

Social media users were quick to call out Kohli over his remarks - and many referred to past instances in which he had praised sportspeople of other nationalities. But now, commentator Harsha Bhogle has come out with his views on the matter.

Major League Baseball star Bryce Harper rejects $300M offer from Nationals
Even though Harper is still only 26, a 14-year deal with an average annual value of $30 million per season felt a bit excessive. Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors predicted last week that Harper would sign a 14-year/$420 million contract.

Although no decision has been taken, India captain Kohli has suggested that fast bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and others who are likely to be picked for the quadrennial event be rested from IPL.

The statement, he writes, is "probably an extension of the nationalist narrative that modern India tries to propagate".

Kohli scored 453 runs in the recently concluded one day worldwide series against West Indies.

He achieved the feat in his 205th innings and surpassed Tendulkar, who did it in 259 innings in 2001.
