At least eleven wounded in shooting at bar in southern California

A gunman opened fire at a crowded bar in Southern California Wednesday night, killing 12 people and wounding many others.

Police say Long was dressed in black from head to toe. Others jumped over chairs and broke windows to get out of the bar. They went through windows.

Police said he was a heavily tattooed white male who was not carrying any form of identification, according to NBC News.

He attained the rank of corporal and saw combat while deployed in Afghanistan from November 2010 to June 2011.

"I know that, being a religious person, that God is never going to give me anything more than I can handle", he said.

When Long entered, people screamed and fled to all corners of the bar, while a few people threw barstools through the windows and helped dozens to escape, witnesses said.

More recently he was living in a home where neighbours said they could hear frequent, aggressive shouting between Long and his mother, especially over the a year ago. 13 people, at this time, have been reported dead.

Kelly, a 22-year-old Marine, said he heard "pop, pop" and instantly knew it was gunfire.

It was the second mass shooting in America in less than two weeks.
