Cassian Andor Is Getting His Own Star Wars Streaming Series

Lucasfilm, Marvel Studios, and Walt Disney Studios are all working on new shows and movies exclusively for the newly revealed Disney+, but the company isn't planning to bring ALL of its content to the service. [Image: Disney] The Star Wars series will star Diego Luna as Rebel spy Cassian Andor and will follow his adventures during the formative years of the Rebellion that lead up to the adventures in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Luna said he's excited about returning to the Star Wars universe.

Beyond that, we've heard about a few other shows in the works which will most likely appear on Disney+.

Disney+ launches late next year. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the name during the company earnings call Thursday. Outside of that, an exact release date hasn't been confirmed, nor has a monthly subscription cost.

So, what adventure (s) will we be going on with a pre-Death Star plan stealing Cassian Andor?

The two new TV series will join a slate of other films and series planned for Disney+, including TV series based on Pixars Monsters Inc and Disneys High School Musical as well as The Mandalorian based on the Star Wars universe. But Disney's $71.3 billion acquisition of Fox, which could gain final government approval in the next few months, will give Disney a 60 percent stake in the streaming video company, allowing it to have greater control of Hulu's future. While I'm not overly looking forward to having another streaming service in the mix that will gate me out of potential things I want to watch, this show could prove to be just what is needed to turn Cassian into a fully explored character. Iger said Disney is aiming to win new subscribers by investing in more original programming and taking Hulu into new global markets.

Most of you know I am a Star Wars junkie, but I truly do believe this show has a lot of potential to be both innovative and stay true to the Franchise.
