Emma Thompson Tried to Kiss Prince William at Her Damehood Ceremony

"If you're first up, you have to be more formal on such an occasion...but he's looking wonderful and doing so well".

Now that she's officially a Dame, don't think that will stop Thompson from speaking her mind.

She said: "I'd like to inspire others and empower others to believe in themselves, especially people with Down's syndrome".

That's right, Thompson saved herself from wearing a pair of fancy heels that surely would have distracted her during her big moment with Prince William.

Prolific actress Emma Thompson became a dame on Wednesday and promptly used her new title to ask for a kiss from Britain's Prince William.

"I love Prince William", Thompson said after the ceremony.

Thompson collected the honour from the Duke of Cambridge with her husband Greg Wise, daughter Gaia and adopted son, Tindyebwa Agaba, by her side.
