Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer: Comrades Launches This December

Square Enix has chose to cancel three of the four upcoming pieces of DLC as it begins to shift resources away from Final Fantasy 15.

Its decision to cancel Episodes Aranea, Lunafreya, and Noctis, Square Enix explained, is due to a shift in the studio's direction following the creation of a new studio (which was originally founded by Tabata) named Luminous Productions.

So, for fans of Final Fantasy 15, this is likely disappointing news, but the silver lining is that some of the game's planned DLC is surviving this purge.

The departure follows a press release from the company reporting a "Booking of Extraordinary Loss" of 3.73 billion yen (approximately $33 million), which Game Industry points to being caused by strategy changes at subsidiary Luminous Productions.

FFXV director Hajime Tabata also announced his exit from Square Enix during the stream.
