Imelda Marcos to appeal Sandiganbayan verdict

Imelda Marcos has been found guilty of seven counts of graft by the Sandiganbayan's Fifth Division.

Despite her absence, Marcos was sentenced to a minimum of up to 11 years for each count, according to CNN affiliate CNN Philippines.

Marcos was charged for allegedly having financial or pecuniary interest in and participating in the management of several foundations despite a constitutional prohibition while she was a member of the Interim Batasang Pambansa and when she was minister of Human Settlements from 1968 to 1986.
