Trump slaps down journalist for 'stupid' question, United States News & Top Stories

In the meantime, Acosta has continued to report without physical access to the White House grounds; he is now in Paris to cover Trump's trip to France.

Mr Acosta asked the president about his reference to migrants travelling towards America as an "invasion".

"President Trump believes in a free press and expects and welcomes tough questions of him and his Administration".

"That's enough. That's enough ..."

Trump has frequently attacked the media, including during his presidential campaign.

Trump: "The same thing with April Ryan..." You are a rude, awful person. "You shouldn't be working for CNN". "You ask a lot of stupid questions", he said, shaking a finger at the journalist, then walking away.

When an intern attempted to take the microphone away from Acosta, he seemed to push away her arm - an incident that prompted press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to suspend his press pass.

"She's very nasty", the president said. She pointed out that she's done her job for more than two decades.

"This conduct is absolutely unacceptable. What a stupid question", Trump snapped.

That's a good description of Wednesday's testy encounter between CNN White House reporter Jim Acosta and President Trump, which started with Acosta challenging the president's claim that the refugee migrant march toward the U.S. border amounted to a risky "invasion".

"He does this with everybody". You know, he gets paid to burst in.

"I saw someone who I think was very very frustrated and very very angry that I was bringing up the fact that some people think he was emboldening white nationalists", Alcindor said on "Hardball With Chris Matthews" on Wednesday. "Look, I don't think he's a smart person, but he's got a loud voice".

"It could be others also".

The video was allegedly originally made by an employee of Infowars, a far-right conspiracy website, The Guardian reported.

Acosta later tweeted that his press credentials to the White House had been revoked. On Wednesday, the day after the 2018 midterms, where the Democrats retook the House, President Trump had a lengthy press conference. "Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately because you can see for yourself what it is, perception is reality with this president".

The president said he had not decided if Acosta's pass would be reinstated and he suggested there "could be others" who lose their credentials.

A senior CNN executive on Thursday said that the video distributed by the White House to support its argument for banning reporter Jim Acosta had been "doctored". "She intentionally disseminated doctored video footage to discredit a reputable journalist". She knows it. These are dark times and not only because of the pack of lying liars in charge.
