Nets guard Caris LeVert sustained what appeared to be a severe right leg injury during the second quarter of Brooklyn's game against Minnesota on Monday night and was taken to a hospital.

LeVert doesn't require surgery on his dislocated right foot and is expected to return to play this season, the team announced Tuesday.

Dr. Dennis Cardone, a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at NYU Langone Health, said this type of injury usually sidelines an elite athlete for 8-12 weeks. For his final foot surgery as a senior, LeVert picked O'Malley, who had repaired the ankles and feet of several stars National Basketball Association, including Kevin Durant and ex-Net Brook Lopez. The University of MI alum has been having a great season so far and has been averaging 19 points, 3.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds in the 13 games he's played for the Nets in 2018. He is the only player in the league this season to convert multiple game-winning baskets with less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation or overtime.
