The Camp Fire now ranks as the deadliest and most destructive fire on record in California's history.

North Valley Animal Disaster Group has received about 5,000 calls for help since Thursday.

The Camp Fire has destroyed the town of Paradise completely and has killed at least 42 people. Some 52,000 people remained under evacuation orders, the sheriff said.

The 48-year-old actor had his home damaged in the devastating fires but it remains standing with mostly belongings lost to the fire, and he has revealed that he has now taken in families who lost their entire homes.

Before the Camp fire struck, the most deadly wildfire in California's history was the Griffith Park blaze, which killed 29 people in Los Angeles in 1933.

Meanwhile, the Woolsey and Hill fires in Southern California, which are threatening the star-studded neighborhood of Malibu, grew more than 143 square miles overnight. Of those cases, 231 individuals had turned up safe, he said.

Paradise, home to some 27,000 residents, has become the ground zero for the wildfire tearing through Northern California.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fires.
