Anthem alpha testing starts on December 8, sign-ups are open

The closed alpha runs from December 8th to the 9th and is open to anyone who signs up and grabs an invite.

All you need to do is sign up to EA's Community Playtesting program - but do it right now as space is limited.

If you're keen to test the game - a sci-fi online co-op shooter, which is something very different for Bioware - then you can sign up here via the EA Community Playtesting Hub (you'll need an EA account). You can sign up to participate, but this doesn't mean you will get in.

The Anthem closed alpha has been dated and it will take place next weekend.

Now that we're only a few months out from the release of Anthem, it seems that BioWare and EA are ready to begin testing the game. For now, though, keep your fingers crossed, and hopefully this time next week you'll be about to take to the skies as a Freelancer.

The alpha is an opportunity to get an early look at how Anthem is shaping up, but EA warned that it might be a bumpy experience, as it will "be adjusting things like matchmaking and server load on the fly". There will be multiple sessions which participants can partake in, but you are limited to only one device for the alpha, whether its Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or PC.

You don't necessarily have to wait until next year to try out the new Destiny-esque action game from BioWare, Anthem. VIPs will be able to play this demo from 25 January, then Origin Access or EA Access members will be able to join in on 1 February. Each player can register only for one platform. "Once the Community Playtest has started, check your email to see if we've sent you instructions to download the Anthem Closed Alpha client".
