‘Christmas Vacation’ inspired holiday decor prompts calls to 911

The Heerlein family paid homage to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation by recreating the scene where Clark the dad hangs off the roof while putting up Christmas lights.

The Heerlein family placed a dummy representing Clark Griswold dangling from the gutter of their Austin, Texas, home, with a ladder tipping beneath him. "And be like 'Save Clark!'" Heerlein's sister-in-law, Leah Wheless, told KVUE.

A Texas family is stirring up alarm with their overly realistic Christmas decorations, prompting some passersby to call 911, reports WIVB. His display included Santa, a sleigh and 8 slightly damaged reindeer in the yard, not to mention 250 strands of lights. "Whatever he had to do, he was going to save old Clark Griswold".

An Austin police officer then responded to the 9-1-1 call and spoke with a nanny who was in the house at the time.
