Michelle Obama is done with women being told to ‘lean in’

Michelle Obama is done with women being told to ‘lean in’

Mrs Obama is now promoting her memoir, Becoming - which became this year's best-selling United States book just 15 days after its publication.

Obama's blunt assessment came as she was discussing how women can achieve the balance in life that allows for a successful career and marriage, NY magazine reported.

"Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she'd have a life like this, and the pressure you feel-from yourself and from others-can sometimes feel like a lot", the Becoming author says in Good Housekeeping's January issue.

"That whole 'so you can have it all.' Nope, not at the same time", Obama said at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday. They cheered as she apologized, saying,"I forgot where I was for a moment!"

As New York magazine noted, "leaning in" is a strategy touted by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg in her book Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead.

Iran says missile programme 'defensive', after testing rocket 'capable of hitting Europe'

The replacement threw three touchdown passes, including a 41-yarder in overtime that gave the Tide a stunning 26-23 victory. He finished Saturday's game with 164 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on 10 of 25 passing.

It's clear that Meghan, who spoke and wrote about her love of cooking in many interviews and blogs she wrote as an actress, quickly found her niche.

During her husband Barack Obama's time in office, Michelle pioneered a number of initiatives during her eight years in the White House, with a special focus on children's nutrition and health. There were 19 countries run by women when Lean In was published.

She said that the idea that women can have it all at the same time is "a lie". "I think it's okay - it's good, even - to do that", Obama shared. After many a scandal at Facebook, where she is COO, Sandberg has been dipping in and out of hot water since the New York Times reported that she was involved in a smear of George Soros, a charge Sandberg first denied. It seems, however, that Obama was not particularly impressed by the book's message.

Sandberg addressed the criticism that her book left out underprivileged women back in 2016, telling CBS that, "I did not really get how hard it is to succeed at work when you are overwhelmed at home".

One person tweeted that while she "may not agree politically.as a woman who has given her all to being a wife, mother and "successful" professional I agree with Michelle Obama 100% on this".
