Michelle Obama's advice for the Duchess of Sussex: Take your time

Michelle Obama doesn't seem like a woman who ever forgets where she is - she doesn't really have the luxury. "It ain't equal. I tell women that whole, 'you can have it all.' Nope, not at the same time", she told the crowd at Barclays Center, according to Vanity Fair.

"And it's not always enough to lean in, because that sh*t doesn't work all the time".

Without directly addressing her husband's successor, Donald Trump, Obama said change was "not a straight line" but the election of Barack Obama to the White House showed people were open to change. "What's inspiring to me is that so numerous young women I've met are triumphing in incredible ways". Seemingly, "leaning in" still hasn't been enough.

"I was told: "I don't think you are Princeton material".

"I thought we were at home, y'all", she added. I was gettin' real comfortable up in here.

"I'm back now", Obama said, smiling and looking a bit sheepish. "Sometimes that stuff doesn't work", she said. It's just that in this cultural moment knocking Sandberg's ideas is fairly kosher, even for a diplomat's diplomat like Obama.

She said she was panicking about how to act but the Queen said: "Just get in".

While the Obamas have a seemingly ideal marriage, the forever FLOTUS admitted it takes hard work to keep it going.

Obama was asked about the philosophy of "leaning in" for women who are finding it hard to balance their home life with their career life. All kids can only dream things that are known to them. "Barack and I say that's why they make 'em cute-'cause if they weren't cute, you'd just leave 'em in a basket".

Mrs Obama also spoke about the importance of mentors and the need for "sisterhood" instead of a "mean girls" mentality. "It's usually men who make it risky for us", she said according to Hello Giggles. "And it doesn't always look like physical abuse".

While many were most pleased by the fact that Obama was apparently dissing Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg's famous "lean in" mantra for women in business, others were simply overcome with glee at hearing a former president's wife utter such a word. Then there are the deep cuts that involve abuse, rape, and sexual assault.

Earlier in the day she encouraged some London schoolgirls to ensure they played a role in tackling the "the bitterness, the nastiness that we see in politics" by never wasting their vote.

"I grew up in safety and security". I grew up where I trusted men to take care of me.

"I still feel that at some level I have something to prove because of the colour of my skin, because of the shape of my body ... who knows how people are judging me".
