Former Seahawks CB Brandon Browner Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison

Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner was sentenced to eight years in California state prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder, according to a report by TMZ.

The charges stem from an incident involving Browner that occurred July 8, when Browner allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's residence through a locked window, then chased, dragged and smothered her in a carpet with her two children present. He was also arrested on charges of robbery, burglary, false imprisonment and child endangerment, per the La Verne Police Department's statement.

Browner was immediately remanded into custody following his plea.

Along with breaking into the home and forcing the victim to stay, Browner allegedly dipped off from the scene before police got there with a Rolex watch worth about $20,000.

Brandon Browner, who played with the Seahawks, Patriots and Saints, reportedly was sentenced to eight years in prison. Browner had previously been arrested in May for domestic violence.

Browner, 34, won Super Bowl XLIX with the Patriots, engaging with receiver Jermaine Kearse to help set a lane for Malcolm Butler to make the game-saving interception at the goal line.

Browner played just five seasons in the National Football League, but managed to assemble an impressive resume: two Super Bowl championships, one Pro-Bowl appearance and 12 interceptions.

For such an egregious act, it seems the former Pro Bowler is getting off fairly easy.
