Pele: Maradona Was "Much Better" Than Messi

Pele: Maradona Was

Barcelona forward Messi - a five-time victor of the Balon d'Or, awarded to the world's best player - is not even rated in the top three of football's greatest players by the 78-year-old Brazilian.

Messi this week missed out on netting a sixth Ballon d'Or for the world's best player, and incredibly only finished fifth on the list as Croatia and Real Madrid playmaker Luka Modric walked home with the accolade.

Brazilian icon Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pele, says Argentina's Diego Maradona is better on the pitch than Lionel Messi and has criticised his countryman Neymar.

The forward helped his nation to three World Cups while Messi has never lifted the trophy. "To compare with Pele, it has to be someone who shoots well with the left, shoots well with the right, and scores headers". "I spoke with him and reminded him of his ability", he told Folha de Sao Paulo.

He also stated that Maradona was "much better" than Messi to continue his astonishing attack on the Barcelona captain.

"[Franz] Beckenbauer, [Johan] Cruyff were also excellent players".

Durant: Environment around LeBron is 'toxic'
Rose also said that Durant has made it clear he won't be joining the Lakers next summer. "He has so many fanboys in the media". It's not LeBron's fault at all; it's just the fact you have so many groupies in the media that love to hang on every word.

Ajinkya Rahane also couldn't contribute and became Hazlewood's second victim for 13 runs. It's nice when they do stick, ' said Khawaja.

I think this is our spirit. "Every supporter needs to feel that with us, and push like they pushed against Tottenham". A howler from David de Gea gave Arsenal the lead, but United hit back not long after through Anthony Martial.

Pele, meanwhile, said no one should try to compare him with Messi, suggesting their skillset was completely different. The legendary three-time World Cup victor claimed he was the better player and a more complete sportsman; however, at the same time singling out Diego Maradona, as also "a much better player", than the Argentinian ace.

"We don't know how tomorrow will be, but I believe that every great player, at least one day, has to play in the Premier League", Neymar said in a message for Man City star Benjamin Mendy.

"Sometimes I talk to his father, sometimes I see Neymar for adverts, it's hard to defend him for all the things he's doing in football, and I talked to him", he said, according to Sport. I talked with him, I told him that in soccer, he's got it.

The 31-year-old has scored 41 goals and supplied 20 assists in 45 matches across all competitions in 2018, giving him more goal involvements than any other player in Europe's top five leagues.

"God gave you a gift for football".
