The moon is set to become officially full on December 22 at 12:49 p.m. EST.

There will be a winter trifecta the next few days with the winter solstice, a full moon and a meteor shower.

On the Google home page is an animated Google Doodle, logo, for the first day of Winter - the Winter Solstice.

In astrological terms, the December solstice marks the end of autumn in the northern hemisphere and the start of winter-which will last until March 20, 2019.

When the North Pole is tilted furthest away from the sun this is when the winter solstice exactly occurs. Eastern, while the full moon will appear the following day at 12:48 p.m.

Winter Solstice in China is referred to as the "Dongzhi festival, ', a celebration of winter's arrival".

Nevertheless, experts can't agree on whether this month's full moon should also be considered a supermoon. One can usually see between 10 and 100 shooting stars per hour during this event.
