Essential Phones journey comes to an end

Essential Phones journey comes to an end

It has been nearly two years from the original debut of the Essential Phone, first ever notch phone.

Android co-founder Andy Rubin provided the creative direction for the Essential Phone, which was in the spotlights as soon as it was launched, but the smartphone did not really take off. This particular device would feature high-end specs and an edge-to-edge display, meant to compete with other popular flagships well established in the market. As said, existing Essential users can expect the same software updates and customer support as before and can also continue buying the accessories from Essential website. Earlier company has cut 30% workforce. The company has confirmed that they have sold out their whole inventory and that they will not be adding any new inventory for the same.

As it turns out, the phone is being discontinued, something we learned in a statement initially given to 9to5Google by an Essential spokesperson. Existing owners don't need to worry just yet, as Essential says it will continue selling accessories for the phone, and more importantly releasing software updates.

At the moment, there's no word on when the phone maker will unveil its next mobile product or reveal what it exactly is.

Unfortunately, though, it looks like the Essential Phone has run out of steam. The phone was also one the first device to receive the Google latest Android 9 Pie update. If or when a second Essential mobile device appears, there may be some loyal customers waiting for it.
