New Marvel Video Game in Development from Ex-Hearthstone Leads

As revealed via a new video and blog post on Second Dinner's website, Brode and the rest of the team announced that they're now creating a project associated with Marvel.

Details are now scarce, but Chu brazenly insists that "In all likelihood, this will be the best [Marvel] game ever made".

The announcement came along with news that the studio has raised a $30 million minority investment from NetEase, allowing the team to expand beyond its initial five founders and open an office in Irvine, CA. They're now working on an unannounced Marvel game which the team describes as "a kernel of a fun idea" that they've been playtesting an early prototype of.

One can only speculate about the nature of Second Dinner's Marvel game, though NetEase's latest moves do give certain ideas. Second Dinner says this is enough to fully fund its first project, meaning it only has to worry about creating a quality Marvel game. It's going to be awesome!

The Marvel game has been in the works for about six months now, with Second Dinner CCO Ben Brode revealing they're 'starting play-testing.' No platforms have been announced at this point. "Or Mighty! Or quite possibly all of the above!" Hearthstone was a huge success for Blizzard and Second Dinner are assembling a really talented team of developers. "I made a spreadsheet so I'm pretty sure".

Marvel Games executive vice president Jay Ong said he's worked with them for years and they are "exactly who we want making Marvel games". Second Dinner is still expanding, but it already has a prototype and playtesting going on for whatever the game will be. Details about it are yet unclear, but the crew promises that applicants who get hired into Second Dinner will naturally get to see it.
