Medvedev beats Raonic to reach Brisbane International semis

Fourth-seed Daniil Medvedev of Russian Federation on Friday had to rally from a one set deficit to defeat big-serving Milos Raonic of Canada 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-4 and qualify for the semifinal of the Brisbane International.

Medvedev will next play 2008 Australian Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who beat Alex de Minaur 6-4, 7-6 (2).

"I took two out of four (break points), which is a good result".

Nishikori, who last won a Tour title in 2016, made light work of his opponent 6-2 6-2 in the day session.

"I'm really happy that finally I've won this title, it's been like seven or eight times at this tournament".

It was not to be, though, as fourth seed Medvedev instead joined Kei Nishikori in Sunday's showpiece match after recovering from a tricky start at Pat Rafter Arena. I felt like I was too fast on the court today.

"The way he's serving, I'm just going to try to be present and if he have my chances, I needed to take it", Medvedev said.
