Michigan Family Killed in Wreck

A Northville family of five was killed Sunday when the vehicle they were riding in was struck by a wrong-way driver on a highway in Kentucky.

The crash occurred when a white Chevy pickup truck heading south in the northbound lanes hit an SUV head-on, investigators said, leaving the truck badly damaged while the SUV caught fire.

Police say a pickup truck driving the wrong way on I-75 around 2:30 a.m. hit an SUV.

The pickup truck driver was identified as 41-year-old Joey Lee Bailey of Georgetown, Kentucky, the coroner's office said. The couple and their children - 14-year-old Ali Abbas, 13-year-old Isabella Abbas and 7-year-old Giselle Abbas - were headed home from a vacation in Florida. The family from Northville, Michigan, was returning from a vacation in Florida.

Sam Baydoun, a Wayne County commissioner and real estate broker who had worked with Issam, called the tragedy "incomprehensible".

Rima Abbas specialized in family medicine in the Beaumont Medical Center in Garden City, according to Beaumont's website. "You think to yourself, 'What's the worst case scenario?' and that's it", Habib Abbas said.
