20th Century Fox has started teasing something that sounds very much like a follow-up to Alien Isolation, but what is it exactly?

Back in late November, we reported that 20th Century Fox were working on a new video game in the Alien series, following on from the hugely successful (and absolutely terrifying) Alien: Isolation.

In Alien: Blackout, players assume the role of Amanda Ripley, trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a blood-thirsty creature.

However, it appears that Alien: Blackout is not the next Alien: Isolation and is, in fact, a mobile phone game that stars Amanda Ripley. But it does suck a bit that this isn't a proper follow up to the excellent Alien Isolation. However, in a shock that has surprised many, myself included, the title is being developed for both Android and iOS devices, by FoxNext, D3 Go. Isolation, you'll need to "outsmart the ideal hunter by making perilous choices", shepherding the surviving crew to safety. Bad news: it's a mobile game.

There's no word on if this game will cost something upfront, or if it will be a free-to-play title.

Players will have to outsmart the Xenomorph by making perilous choices and they'll have to rely on the damaged controls of the space station or risk sacrificing crew members to avoid deadly contact, permanently altering the outcome of the game. Alien: Blackout consists of seven levels, the site said, though no pricing information was provided either. Contending with limited power supply, survival will require players to effectively operate a holographic map, surveillance cameras, and motion trackers to stay hidden and out of the Xenomorph's clutches.
